Hi and welcome.

My name is Alan and I'm gonna refer

to and known as the Therapy Joy.

So welcome to this brand new podcast.

This is our first podcast in a host series of

different ones that we're going to be talking about.

And this is just an introduction to myself, to what we're

going to be talking about and to get some of your

feedback on what it is you'd like to hear us talking

about and obviously me, myself and everything therapy wise.

So what are we going to be

talking about over the comings episodes?

Well, everything therapy, hopefully it's going to make it

fun and interactive for you guys to listen to.

Also, we're going to be covering areas like different

types of therapy, why you should go into that,

why you should try those, therapies the benefits, as

well as the pitfalls for yourself.

We'll also be discussing with you things like

how you can relax, maybe use mindfulness, what

helps some people and what doesn't help others,

and the reasons behind that.

We want to make it as interactive and it's fun for

you to listen to as well as us for doing it.

We intend to bring in some co hosts, some people

that are experts in their field or have experience, and

even some clients that can actually relate and tell their

personal experiences around how therapy helped them, what they found

difficult, and hopefully encourage people to get the right things

to help them in their lives.

We really hope that you find it interesting.

It's one of the biggest things that I really want

to do, is make it fun and engaging and something

that you want to listen to with each week and

each episode that we do, in each episode, we'll be

covering a different area and we'll be spending a bit

longer than we're doing today to actually get to the

nitty gritty of everything that you're going to hear.

So I'm going to tell you a bit about myself.

My name is Alan.

I'm a company director of two mental health

companies based in Plymouth in the UK.

And for the people that know they can hear the Devonshire

accent or the janner in me, that's what it's called.

So I'm quite proud of my accent.

I know some people love it.

It's one of those things like marmite.

You love it or hate it, but I suppose I'm

stuck with it now, unless I want to take some

speech lessons, which I have no intention of doing.

Hopefully you'll love it too and it will grow on you.

While these episodes carry on, I'm going to be

telling you a little bit about myself now.

I started work in construction and I was

in the construction industry for many years before

I retrained, because as I was getting older,

I don't want to be outside so much.

It gets a bit cold when you get older.

And I decided to retrain as a therapist after

taking some courses and really finding it engaging and

really liking the neural science and finding the brain.

The brain really fascinates me.

I love all those science geeky

facts that we sometimes get.

But it's also really interesting because

it's the thing that powers us.

It's the thing that drives us, really.

Hopefully it will help engage you listening to this sort

of podcast and you'll learn some new things and you'll

be able to find out different things about areas that

can help maybe yourself, people in your life, your company,

business, whatever it is that's right for you.

Please get in touch.

Gave me some feedback on what you've heard so

far and hopefully you'll listen to the second podcast

that we've got coming out and we'll have a

few episodes that follow from that and I look

forward to interacting with you.

Take care for now.

See you later. The Therapy Guy.
